What the Tide Couldn’t Take

What the Tide Couldn't Take
$2,300.00

The tide came in heavy this time
not just water, but the sudden unraveling
of things we thought would hold.
Some of us are just now seeing it,
some of us always knew,
but either way, we’re standing here
with something too big to fix.

And yet, in resistance, there is a hand in the soil.
A small patch of green pushed up anyway.
A table set, a light left on,
a life tended despite the elephant in the room
Not because it changes everything,
but because it saves something.

Even now, with the sky pressing down
and the earth asking to be held together,
there is a refusal to wither
to harden, to stop caring.
The tide can take a lot,
but not what is chosen,
again and again, to grow.

Hiding Place
$350.00

The bushes rustle,
whispering to each other
about their new guest upon the hilltop.

Yet they welcome me into their embrace
beneath the bright and hazy sky.
They hide me from the coming and going,
from here and there,
from this and that,
if only for a little while.

When the peace-taker comes
to steal my breath,
they gather to shelter me from his gaze,
and he passes by with all his panic.

If only for a moment,
the hiding place makes good on its promise.

High Ground
$350.00

The summit, the peak,
not some dry and frigid wasteland,
but a lush stronghold
set apart for us.
The rocks are formidable,
yet they guard rather than threaten.

The mountain keeps watch,
and no invader dares challenge him.
The trees greet us with whistling leaves,
applauding our choice
to walk beneath their shade.

The wildflowers bid us
lie down and linger awhile.
This is our home.
This is where I come in prayer.

Beyond this haven, down below,
the world may be crumbling,
but here on the high ground
the flowers still bloom,
the earth still turns,
and I feel free
to simply enjoy it.

In the Cool of the Day
$350.00

The wind billows through the grasses,
sweeping over the hills
like a sheet shaken loose,
waving as it falls across a bed.

The colors offer up their praises to the sky
as they dance their part
in the ordered procession.

There is nothing else to behold,
nothing to distract,
only the endless dance across the hills
and a single tree that calls you near
to recline in its branches,
to pour yourself out at its roots,
and leave unburdened;
to meet with God himself
in the cool of the day.

Between Dreams

Between Dreams
$2,300.00

There’s a moment you can’t hold
when one dream loosens its grip
and another slips in beside it,
threads crossing like quiet conversation
neither one willing to leave just yet

The shapes don’t argue, they blur
soft edges leaning into each other
trying, for a breath, to make sense
of two stories told at once
before one begins to fade

And you’re left somewhere in between
not lost, just unplaced
feeling both the ending and the start
as if the world paused mid-sentence
and let you hear it thinking

On the Rocks
$450.00

We have traveled from a distant country
to reach this long-awaited shore.
Yet the sea is vast,
and the waves wear down our confidence.
The horizon stretches wide
into a world indifferent to our presence.

Still, our place is on the rocks,
between the pull of comfort and the edge of danger.
Not retreating inland,
not surrendering ourselves to the sea,
but standing on the fault line between safety and risk,
holding the boundary between storm and solid ground.

For it is here
that truth is stripped of all excess.
Here, the gray dissolves into clarity.
Here, you learn to see with precision,
to hear with sharpness,
to define your place in the world.

In the Shadow of Creation
$450.00

The lights have never danced with greater vigor.
The wind has never spoken with more truth.
The trees stand looming, poised in unwavering strength,
like guardians gripping the earth in deep devotion.

The grass reflects the jewels of the sky,
while our humble existence stands only as witness.
What we have built with our hands cannot compare.
Our toil is an unworthy offering
beside the life that dances before our eyes.

It is undeserved, and underrated,
to live in the shadow of creation.

I haven't known Autumn for a long time, but I have been absolutely in love with her techniques and hearing about the stories behind her work… I highly recommend everyone check out Autumn's works and pay close attention to the details just below the surface, I know I'll be back for more. Oh, and my roommate absolutely loves the piece!
