I painted this right after I lost my job.

Looking back through my work, it’s beautiful to see how much I’ve evolved as an artist. But more importantly, I love how each painting tells the story of what my soul felt at that time. There are some paintings that I still feel so deeply, and this is one of them.

In late 2023, shortly after returning from maternity leave, I was laid off from my job. As the main income earner for our family at that time, it was a big deal. This started the circumstantial push toward full time artist. But at the time, I was just afraid and confused.

“Rivers in the Wilderness” was born from that. It was a sliver of hope I was holding onto that God would come through. The path would clarify. The finances would work themselves out. And eventually, they did.

But it’s more powerful to know that this painting was created before everything fell into place. It was painted in the confusion. It’s the embodiment of faith.
