This place grows
because I tend it,
not in frenzy,
but in faith.
I wake early,
not to rush,
but to move with intention.
Hands in the dirt
of my own thoughts,
pulling up what chokes,
making space
for something softer to grow.
Lush in the way
the woods once looked
when my nephew asked,
wide-eyed,
“What does that mean?”
And I said,
“It means full. It means alive.”
So I clear,
I plant,
I water.
Again and again.
Not just drifting
through the wilderness of life,
but carving out something
tended,
rooted,
true.
A garden inside me
that remembers
peace takes practice.
